Fredericton Fun and a Run!

Hello!

We just returned from beautiful Fredericton, New Brunswick! We played four shows there: 1 school, 1 at the YMCA, and 2 shows as a part of the 3rd Annual FredKids Fair. What an amazing event. The Friday night concert was a packed house- it was great to see so many families we met last year and meet some new ones as well.

Sunday we teamed up with our Fredericton host family, and ran the Fredericton Half-Marathon! Initially we were going to do the 10k...but got inspired when we got there. Nothing like running 21 km's with no training. Although I have to say Monday was a bit painful!!! This is before the Marathon...

and this is after: (we picked up a baby along the way :)

and yes- everyone gets a medal.

We also travelled to St. John and hiked around Irving Nature Park. (even though it was rainy it was soo beautiful) Love the east coast.

Now we have a few days home then its off on our Children's Festival Tour with stops in Calgary, St. Albert and Saskatoon! Can't wait.
Hope to see you soon!!

March Break & Manatees

What a March Break! So glad that we had nice week of weather, because we did some major driving around from show to show. It was great to see some familiar faces, and meet so many more families. Thank you to everyone who made a show part of your break, and also a huge thank you to those who came dressed in Pirate Costumes- love it!

This is right before our final show of the week at the Delta Auditorium in Hamilton. A Special thanks to Umbrella Family and Childcare Services in Hamilton for sponsoring the show. http://www.umbrellafamily.com/ellafamily.com/

On a completely non-show related note...I wanted to share something with you, because it made my day. Not sure if you know this, but I have a thing for Manatees. I travelled a few years ago to a place called "Manatee Bay" (sound familiar..?) . I was able to go and see them in the wild, which was AMAZING. But my full-life time goal is to swim with them. Apparently there is a place in Florida...keep waiting to get some Florida shows!

Check out these baby Manatees who have been rescued:
Does it get any cuter than that?! One of my favorite sites is: http://www.savethemanatee.org/
Check out how we can all do our part to save these beautiful animals.

Ok- back to business. (baby animals distract me very easily)

Our Hamilton Place show is coming up, and we just got a call from the box office and tickets are going fast. So, if you would like to come, get your tickets asap. We are playing in the studio theatre, so there are a limited number available.

Click here to order them through Ticketmaster: http://www.hecfi.ca/hamiltonplace/event_listing.asp
We are excited about this one, so hope to see you there!!!
We made the Billboard! Wahooo!!!
Check out: http://www.splashnboots.com/ for a full tour schedule. Also, our Facebook group is nearing the 1,000 range. If you have not already, please join! Invite your friends!

40 Below and Lots of Snow!

Hello Everyone

Hope you are having a fantastic February where ever you might be. We just spent last weekend in Thompson, Manitoba performing at their Winterfest. We flew into Winnipeg then it we switched planes and got on a 30-seater and flew north for another 2 hours.
Such a beautiful area......but very chilly. Although we were told it was actually quite warm compared to what it had been the week before!
We bundled up and did a walk around tour before our show:

We came across a 10-storey wolf mural, an exact reproduction of Robert Bateman’s wolf sketch ...or was it real????? Taes wasn't sure:

After we thawed out we headed to the theatre to perform in front of a great crowd with lots of singing and dancing energy. Here is the beautiful R.D. Parker Letkemann Theatre where we performed.

The next morning the weather dipped down to 40 below but the sun made everything sparkle...and my nose almost fall off.

Thanks to the wonderful people in Thompson for making our trip such fun one.

We are now back at home working away...planning our next tour. Check our Schedule to see if we will be in a town near you: http://www.splashnboots.com/

Hope everyone is staying warm and singing lots. Spring is right around the corner...!

Bye for now
Love,

Taes and Nick

A new year and new home ...

Hello from our new home!

We have spent the last week and a half moving into our new home in Toronto, Ontario...aka Splash'N Boots headquarters. We spent the day painting with the colour "Dill" and now have green paint in our hair, but have successfully finished one room!

We had an amazing show last week in Kingston, Ontario at Holy Family School. It was a special evening concert for Literacy Week. A few days before the show we got an email from four Grade 8 Girls who were learning one of our songs to perform for the younger kids during the day at school to promote the show. They had picked the song "Razoo" and wanted some help with some of the moves. Little did I know that "The Razoo" was going to become a full-fledged dance number. These girls could dance! They ended up teaching me most of the moves, and performed it with us on the evening of the concert. (video footage to come!!) Thanks to Danni, Sammi, Megan and Chelsea "The Razoo" has become our new favorite show-song!

Here they are posing in "Razoo Position" after the concert:

If you are in the Barrie area we will be appearing in the A-Channel Morning Show this coming Friday around 7am. Get ready to do the Pirate Dance in your Pj's...!

Also this Saturday we will be performing at the Algonquin Theatre in Huntsville, ON:
http://www.algonquintheatre.ca/events/splash_boots.htm

We would love to see you there!

Stay tuned for our full March Break and Spring and Summer Tour coming up. We also have a few exciting projects on the go that we can't wait to tell you about...

If you haven't already, check out our Facebook Group: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=2430416902

Also, we are looking for any video footage you have of your children/family/grandma dancing to Splash'N Boots....Have an awesome version of the "Hippo Stomp"..? Send it our way..!

Time to paint again.

Wishing you all a cozy February.
Can't wait to see you soon,

Taes and Nick

Bringing in the New Year...at Minus 27!

Happy New Year to all!

We spent a chilly New Years Eve rockin out in Barrie, Ontario. I cannot believe the number of people who came out despite the "Extreme Cold Weather Warning" You guys are hero's. We love you. Especially love all of the parents who had no choice but to do the "hippo stomp" to keep warm! So a huge thank you to Barrie for all your snowsuit dancing and mitten clapping. Somehow Nick's fingers made it through the set without falling off...-27 degrees was a push.

PLUS we got to meet Sloan..which was exciting.

They look colder than us.

Hope you are all enjoying being back at school, work and doing whatever exciting things 2009 has to bring.

We are starting off the New Year with 4 concerts right here in Burlington, Ontario this coming weekend. We would love to see you there!

Show times are:
Friday, January 9th at 7:00 pm
Saturday, January 10th at 10:00 am and 6:00 pm
Sunday, January 11th at 1:00 pm

Shows are held at the Carlisle Community Centre. Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased at Zoom Zoom's Indoor Playground and Busy Bee Toys and Books in Waterdown, or else at the door of the show. This is a fundraising event for Awesome Beginnings Co-Operative Nursery School. We have a super group of mom's and volunteers working to put this show on. Make-sure you get your tickets early!

We are really excited about the upcoming year, and have lots of projects that are in the works. Can't wait to share them all with you.

Also want to thank you for your support and emails and for coming out and making 2008 so much fun for us. We couldn't do this without you!

Love,
Taes (Nick is currently absorbed in the Canadian World Juniors Hockey Game....update....we won!!!!!)
